Alfo City Manager DATE: December 6, 2016 SUBJECT: Police Department Hiring and Staffing Quarterly Update As per the request of the City Commission during the November 19 2015 City Commission meeting, I present this memorandum, which outlines the Police Department's manpower allocation and hiring progress in a quarterly basis. The Miami Police Department is currently operating with no sworn vacancies. There are no sworn members of the Police Department who must separate from service due to the DROP for the remainder of 2016. The following is a breakdown of the Police Department's hiring progress for the fourth quarter of the hiring report: Position Status Police Officer • • 161 applicants hired year-to-date in 2016. Currently processing 141 police officer applicants. Crime Scene Investigator I • 1 vacancy for Crime Scene Investigators. Emergency Dispatcher • 7 vacancies for Emergency Dispatcher. The "Separated" and "Hired" levels will change retroactively each month now to reflect the previously reported levels that may have taken place after the reporting period. *The Vacant numbers only reflect an estimate and are subject to change slightly, depending on personnel actions occurring but not finalized during the month reported, specifically those personnel actions that have not cleared payroll as of the date of the report.
