A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: " FISCAL
YEAR 2016 EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT
PROGRAM" ('JAG'), CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD FROM THE UNITED
STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS,
BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, IN THE AMOUNT OF $367,931.00, TO
PROVIDE FUNDING FOR PLANNING, EVALUATION, AND TECHNOLOGY
IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE GRANT AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED
FORM, AND ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE
ACCEPTANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT AWARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant from the
United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice
Assistance, in the amount of $367,931.00, to provide funding for planning,
evaluation and technology improvement projects; and
WHEREAS, the planning, evaluation and technology improvement projects
will expand and improve the operations of the Miami Police Department by enabling
it to provide better services to the City's residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, this award does not require any local match; and
WHEREAS, said grant is awarded for a period of four (4) years, beginning
October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2019;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this
Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and
resources are appropriate as described below:

APPROPRIATION: Improve Operations of the Department of Police $367,931.00
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to execute the grant agreement,
in substantially the attached form, and any other necessary documents, in a form
acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to implement the acceptance and
administration of said grant.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption and signature of the Mayor.2

1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that
may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed
by applicable City Charter and Code provisions.
2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of
ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor
vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the
veto by the City Commission.
