Staffing Quarterly Update
As per the request of the C ity Commission during the November 19 2015 City Commission meeting, 1 present
this memorandum, which outlines the Police Department's manpower allocation and hiring progress in a
quarterly basis.
The Miami Police Department is currently operating with 53 sworn vacancies. There are 25 sworn members
of the Police Department who must separate from service due to the DROP in 2016.
The following is a breakdown of the Police Department's hiring progress for the first quarter of the hiring
report:
Position

• Sixteen (16) applicants hired year-to-date in 2016.
• Three (3) applicants awaiting medical clearance.
• Processing 272 police officer applicants from the February 6"1-7th
orientations.
Crime Scene
Investigator
Emergency
Dispatcher
• One (1) vacancy for Crime Scene Investigators,
• One (1) vacancy for Emergency Dispatcher.
The table on page 2 is a snapshot of the Police Department's hiring progress and staffing levels from January
2015 through February 2016.
