Subject: A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a Locally Funded Agreement with the
State of Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") for the installation of 19 additional decorative
street lights on SW 1st Street from Flagler Street to SW 17th Avenue.
Purpose of Item:
A Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a Locally Funded Agreement, for the
installation of nineteen (19) decorative light poles along S.R. 968/SW 1st Street from Flagler Street to
SW 17th Avenue by the FDOT as part of their SW 1 Street reconstruction project.
Background Information:
Currently decorative street light poles exist within the corridor and the additional 19 will be installed
to supplement the existing roadway lighting. This agreement will allow the City to fund the cost
differential between standard roadway lighting and decorative street light poles. The Florida
Department of Transportation will be reconstructing SW 1st Street and as part of the project decorative
lighting (Aluminum poles) cost $5,000 each. The proposed decorative light poles cost $12,000 each.
The total for the nineteen poles is $133,000 was included in the Public Works Department 2016 Fiscal
Year. Budget.
