HomeMy WebLinkAboutDDA ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 02/2015 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MIAMI DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY ("DDA") OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE A JOINT PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF MIAMI AND/OR OTHER AGENCIES AS APPROPRIATE TO SUPPORT THE CITY'S EFFORTS BY PROVIDING PROJECT FUNDING IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $500,000 FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI SIGNAGE AND WAYFINDING PROJECT; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO CONTINUE TO PURSUE COST -SHARING OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE MIAMI PARKING AUTHORITY, COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCIES, AND OTHER APPLICABLE ORGANIZATIONS, WHEREAS, a quality signage and wayfinding system improves community image, eases traffic congestion, guides visitors to their destinations, and promotes walking, bicycling and mass transit and WHEREAS, the City of Miami and the DDA wish to facilitate the construction of wayfinding signage improvements, within both the City and DDA limits; and WHEREAS, the City and the DDA applied for and were awarded a federal grant in the amount of $1,000,000 dollars from the Florida Department of Transportation for the construction of the Project; and WHEREAS, the DDA has secured Florida Department of Transportation (FOOT) approvals and preliminary City building permit dry -run reviews of the Projeet; and WHEREAS, in addition to the $1,000,000 dollars from the Florida Department of Transportation, the DDA in association with partner agencies wishes to support the City's efforts by providing Project funding in an amount not to exceed $500,000; and WHEREAS, the DDA Executive Director has secured commitments from the Miami Parking Authority and the Omni/Midtown Community Redevelopment Agency for cost sharing of the Project, provided herein as Exhibit I. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Directors of the Miami Downtown Development Authority of the City ofMiami, Florida: Section 1. The recitals are true and correct and are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2, The DDA Board of Directors authorizes the Executive Director to execute a Joint Participation Agreement with the City of Miami and/or other agencies as appropriate to support the City's efforts by providing project funding in an amount not to exeeed $500,000 dollars for the City of Miami Signage and Wayfinding projeet, Section 3. The DDA Board of Directors authorizes the Executive Director to continue to pursue cost sharing opportunities with the Miami Parking Authority, Community Redevelopment Agencies, and other applicable organizations, 13M: 03/20/20 15 Reso# 02/20 15 Page 1 of 2 PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 20th DAY OF MARCH, 2015.
