Commissioner Frank Carollo, School Board Member Ms. Lubby Navarro, and Mr. Nathan Kurland, Chairman of the Miami Bayside Foundation, presented this important and exciting item during the Miami River Commission's January 4. 2016 public meeting. The Miami River Commission's adopted strategic plan, the award winning Miami River Corridor Urban In011 Plan. recommends the creation of a needed Marine Vocational School program to teach students the skills necessary to secure good marine industrial jobs, which pay above the County average. This program will include a test for the American Boat and Yacht Council Certificate (ABYC). We strongly recommend the numerous job generating marine industrial businesses on the Port of Miami River to support this new program through internships and instructional opportunities. Your time and continued strong support for the Miami River District are appreciated.
