HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutionCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 03-0201 Final Action Date: 11/13/2003 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING FUNDING OF THE DADE-MIAMI CRIMINAL JUSTICE COUNCIL; ALLOCATING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $35,000, FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT NUMBER 690001, SUCH EXPENDITURE HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH FLORIDA STATE STATUTES, CHAPTER 932.7055, AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, Florida State Statute, Chapter 932.7055, as amended authorize the expenditure of forfeiture cash or proceeds for certain law enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and WHEREAS, the Miami Police Department supports the endeavors of the Dade -Miami Criminal Justice Council; and WHEREAS, the Council researches and writes grant applications and assists in formulating policies and procedures for municipal law enforcement agencies; and WHEREAS, the Council also serves as the Advisory Board for the Police Department's Law Enforcement Block Grant;and WHEREAS, funds to cover this expenditure have not been included in the Police Department's normal operating budget and are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of this Resolution and has determined that the expenditures proposed comply with Florida State Statute, Chapter 932.7055, as amended; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 932.7055(c) Fla. Stat. 1999, the recipient shall 1) certify that funds appropriated will be used lawfully and for the purpose stated, 2) be required to maintain proper accounting records for the expenditure of such monies and 3) provide any reports, including but not limited to audit reports, as may be required by the City of Miami or applicable law; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Funding of the Dade -Miami Criminal Justice Council, is authorized, with funds, in an City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 03-0201 (Version: 21 Printed On: 7/8/2024 File Number: 03-0201 amount not to exceed $35,000, from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Number 690001, such expenditure having been approved by the Chief of Police as complying with Florida State Statute, Chapter 932.7055, as amended. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} PASSED AND ADOPTED this day of , 2003.
