ShotSpotter helps police departments transform policing practices from reactive to proactive by instantly notifying officers of gunfire location (gun crimes in progress) with real-time data delivered to dispatch centers, patrol cars and even smartphones. With real-time alerts, first responders receive precise gunfire incident information, allowing informed decisions for faster emergency response while also improving situation intelligence and increasing first responder safety. ShotSpotter gunfire data also enables law enforcement agencies to improve evidence collection, prosecution and overall police effectiveness. ➢ What Exactly is ShotSpotter? The ShotSpotter technology is a series of audio sensors deployed high above the street. When a gunshot goes off, and at least three sensors are triggered, the sensors triangulate the sound. The exact time of arrival enables us to pinpoints the exact GPS location of the gunfire. ShotSpotter trained acoustic experts review and qualify all gunfire incidents and alert law enforcement immediately, along with contextual information such as the number of shots fired, all within a minute, and usually within 30 seconds, of the gunshot occurring. 3 ShotSpotter • How ShotSpotter works: at reA yes data and I ; , either ShotSper intslocation St re or 9-1-1 System of the before t - y aware ation et there What are the Benefits of ShotSpotter? • Better ability to strategically and safely deploy into area and scene • Locate possible suspect(s) • Better probability to find critical evidence • Locate victims and get EMS faster • Better directed area canvass • Helps identify problem areas (hotspots) • Helps allocate proper resources (man power, cameras, lighting, etc.) • Able to respond to shots fired calls more accurately and faster.
