Hannon City Clerk Subject: Overtown Advisory Board/ Overtown Community Oversight Board Elected Members References: Agenda for September 22, 2016 Enclosures: Certification and Declaration of Election Results, Current Members The Overtown Advisory Board/Overtown Community Oversight Board (OAB/OCOB) was created via Ordinance 12858 amending Article XI of Chapter 2 of the City Code to encourage and support housing, job creation, economic and business development, educational opportunities, and historic and cultural preservation within the Overtown Community. The Board shall provide written recommendations to the City Commission regarding activities, developments, and improvements within or substantially impacting the residents of the Overtown Area. The OAB/OCOB consists of eleven (11) members (other than youth board members), five (5) of whom shall be elected and six (6) of whom shall be appointed. In addition, there shall be two (2) youth members of the OAB/OCOB, one (1) to be appointed by the Commissioner representing District 5 and one (1) to be appointed by the Overtown Advisory Board/Overtown Community Oversight Board. Pursuant to Miami City Code Sec 2-1052(c), an election was conducted on August 23, 2016 for five (5) available elected member seats on the OAB/OCOB. Seven (7) individuals qualified as candidates for the five (5) available seats. Please note that two (2) candidates withdrew from the election on August 22, 2016. The following candidates were declared the winners for the five (5) elected seats: . . Mae Christian Nicole Crooks Anitrice "Joy" McKinnis Reginald Munnings La' shown Naylor Pursuant to Miami City Code Section 2-1052(e), the City Commission must ratify the election results for the newly elected members to serve on the OAB/OCOB. For your convenience, I am including the certification and declaration of election results, in addition to the current membership of the board. By copy of this memorandum to the Agenda Office, I am requesting that this issue be placed on the September 22, 2016 Commission agenda. TBH: ne c: Daniel D.
