Subject: Resolution accepting funds in the amount of $750,000 and authorizing the City Manager to execute a
Grant Agreement with the State of Florida, Department of Economic Opportunity ("DEO"), for Capital
Improvements and Transportation Program Project No. B-173600 "NE 41' Street/Design District" (the "Project"),
within the Miami Design District.
Purpose of Item:
To accept funds in the amount of $750,000 from the State of Florida, Department of Economic Opportunity
("DEO") to fund the cost of infrastructure and rights -of -way improvements within the Miami Design District
along NE 41st Street between NE 2" d Avenue and NE 1st Avenue associated with the Capital Improvement and
Transportation Program Project No. B-173600, "NE 41st Street/Design District" (the "Project"). This
resolution further authorizes the City Manager to execute a Grant Agreement in substantially the attached form,
with the DEO for said purpose.
Background Information:
In June 2016, CITP was notified about a $750,000 public improvement DEO grant that was made available to
the City. The funding program allows for the City's required 50% match contribution of $375,000 to be
provided in either the form of a cash contribution or a capital project that benefits the area. In July 2016, the
DEO confirmed that Capital Improvement Project No. B-78508 was qualified to serve as the City's required
funding match. However, all work on both the Project and the City's matching capital project needs to be
substantially completed by June 30, 2017. The Grant Funds from the DEO shall be used solely for costs
associated with the Right -of -Way Improvements.
