HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www,miamigov,com File Number: 16-00818 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), APPROVING AN AMENDMENT OF THE COMMERCIAL FACADE AND CODE COMPLIANCE PROGRAM POLICIES, TO INCLUDE AN INCREASE IN THE LIMIT FOR COMMERCIAL FACADE REPAIRS FROM $10,000.00 TO $20,000.00, AND TO ELIMINATE MATCHING FUND CONTRIBUTIONS FROM BUSINESS OWNERS FOR THE COMMERCIAL FACADE PROGRAM IN DISTRICT 5, AS SPECIFIED IN EXHIBIT "A",ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No, 16-0087, adopted March 11, 2016, the City Commission approved the allocation of Community Development Block Grant Funds, in the total amount of $2,699,621.00, in the Economic Development Category, which included an amountof $290,000.00 for a Commercial Facade Program in District 5; and WHEREAS, there is a need for Commercial Facade and Code Compliance rehabilitation within District 5, but many business owners do not have the matching funds necessary to participate in these programs and the cost is usually higher than the current $10,000.00 maximum amount; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of District 5 to make these changes in the Commercial Facade and Code Compliance Program policies, to meet the needs of the business owners; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends the amendment of the Commercial Facade and Code Compliance Program policies, to include an increase in the limit for Commercial Facade repairs from $10,000.00 to $20,000,00, and to eliminate matching fund contributions from business owners for the Commercial Facade Program in District 5, as specified in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The amendment of the Commercial Facade and Code Compliance Program policies for District 5 is approved, Section 3. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
