HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislation(v1) 05-12-16City of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov,com File Number: 16-00645 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT DONATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN TO BE EXECUTED BY THE NATIONAL TRUST FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION AND HEINEKEN IN AN EFFORT TO RAISE FUNDING TO RENOVATE THE MIAMI MARINE STADIUM. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") is the owner of the Miami Marine Stadium ("Stadium") located at 3501 Rickenbacker Causeway; and WHEREAS, the Stadium is in a state of disrepair and requires significant capital in order to be renovated; and WHEREAS, Heineken has reached out to the National Trust for Historic Preservation ("NTHP") to partner in a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to assist with the renovation of the Stadium; and WHEREAS, crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people, often performed via internet-mediated registries; and WHEREAS, the City would like to assist the partnership between Heineken and NTHP with these fundraising efforts; and WHEREAS, funds raised through these efforts will be appropriated by separate Resolution in accordance with all applicable procedures; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized {1} to accept all donated funds associated with the crowdfunding campaign to be executed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Heineken in an effort to raise funding to renovate the Miami Marine Stadium. Section 3. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
