Reject the Virginia Key Marina RFP and proposals because:
1. Violates the Virginia Key Master Plan which was unanimously approved by the City Commission in 2010.
2. The RFP was issued before the Task Force was in place and should not have been sent out without the Task Force's approval.
3. Construction within the historically designated basin has to be approved by the Historic and Environmental Preservation Board.
4. Proposed construction will severely limit the activities which can take place at the Marine Stadium, thus making it difficult to
operate a self-sustaining venue.
5. The proposed marina will cost the Marine Stadium $6,000,000 in tax credits which are available for sites on the National Register of
Historic Places or eligible for the National Register.
The Commission is legally able to say NO.
