On May 17, 2016, the City and the Fraternal Order of Police tentatively agreed upon a successor
collective bargaining agreement for the term of October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2018. The
agreement has been placed on the May 26, 2016 Commission Meeting Agenda as Resolution 8.
The current attachment to the item needs to be modified by replacing one (1) page which contains
most of Article 18.3 with the accurate version. Attached is the replacement page for your reference.
The change is a strikethrough of the language contained in the last sentence in the first paragraph
of Article 18.3.

18.3 All new hires in the classification of Police Recruit shall be paid five percent (5%) per
month less than Step 1 of the salary range of the classification of Police Officer until the recruit
graduates from the police academy and passes the state certification exam at which time such
bargaining unit nte:nber shall be eligible to be paid at Step 1 of the salary range. The period of
probationary service shall not be less than eighteen (I 8) months nor more than twenty-four (24)

Bargaining unit members hired directly as certified Police Officers with prior law
enforcement experience from the City of Miami, not including corrections, who are riot required
to attend the academy, shall be placed at the pay steps in Appendix A commensurate with their
years of prior law enforcement experience at the City not to exceed step 4.
Newly hired bargaining unit members shall complete six (6) months of satisfactory
performance in the Field Training Officer (F.T.O.) program, which includes four (4) months
riding, with a field training officer and two (2) months riding solo, and further complete six (6)
months in full -duty status with satisfactory performance. The period of probationary service
shall not be less than twelve (I2) months nor more than eighteen (18) months, unless extended
by the department.
