HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 16-00321 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO CREATE A LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE TO ALLOW USERS TO RECEIVE CITY COMMISSION AGENDAS BY E-MAIL IN AN EFFORT TO CREATE A MORE OPEN, ACCESSIBLE, AND TRANSPARENT GOVERNMENT. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") aims to provide openness, access, and transparency to all residents, constituents and individuals interested in being aware and up to date with the items which will be heard, discussed and voted on by the Miami City Commission; and WHEREAS, the State of Florida and all municipalities within, including the City, are subject to Florida's Government in the Sunshine Law, allowing more access and input from members of the community to governmental proceedings; and WHEREAS, under the City's updated strategic plan one of the City's priorities and goals is efficient and effective government; and WHEREAS, in order to provide more openness, access, transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness, the City will create a Legislative Information Subscription Service by which users are able to add their e-mail address to the subscription service; and WHEREAS, once the agenda is released by the Agenda Coordinator, the users will be notified via e-mail that the agenda was published and a link or attachment will allow users to access the agenda; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and finding contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is directed to create a Legislative Information Subscription Service allowing users to receive City Commission agendas by e-mail in an effort to create a more open, accessible and transparent government. Section 3.
