A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ENDORSING THE SOUTH FLORIDA PARKS COALITION CHARTER AND
SUPPORTING THE PRINCIPLES EXPRESSED THEREIN; FURTHER DIRECTING
THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMITA COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE
CHAIRMAN OF THE SOUTH FLORIDA PARKS COALITION.
WHEREAS, parks, open spaces and natural areas are vital to the lives of all residents of the City
of Miami ("City"); and
WHEREAS, the City is committed to the fundamental and abiding values of recreation
opportunities for all and environmental stewardship of our park lands; and
WHEREAS, the South Florida Parks Coalition ("Coalition") is composed of the Directors and
Senior Staff of the 34 Municipalities in Miami -Dade County ("County") whose purpose is to share best
practices and industry standards in order to improve recreation opportunities and park lands for all
County residents; and
WHEREAS, the Coalition is created to foster a seamless, connected, and sustainable parks
system for the South Florida community; and
WHEREAS, the Coalition will meet, collaborate, and share knowledge and professional expertise
regarding park, recreation and open space conservation; and
WHEREAS, the Coalition is dedicated to building a model park system that will promote a greener,
healthier, and more livable South Florida community; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes that there is strength in unity and collaboration;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission endorses the South Florida Parks Coalition Charter and
supports the principles expressed therein.
Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Chairman of the
Coalition.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature by
the Mayor.{1}

Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
