AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF U. S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
DEVELOPMENT (HUD) ENTITLEMENT GRANT FUNDS, IN THE TOTAL PROJECTED AMOUNT
OF $20,534,139 AS STATED HEREIN, FOR THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS: COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ("CDBG"), HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIPS ("HOME"),
HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONS WITH AIDS ("HOPWA"), AND THE EMERGENCY
SOLUTIONS GRANT ("ESG"), FOR PROGRAM YEAR 2016-2017; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENT(S) TO IMPLEMENT THE
ACCEPTANCE OF THE ACTUAL AMOUNTS OF GRANT FUNDS WHEN MADE AVAILABLE FOR
SAID PURPOSE.

Background Information:
The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") provides the City of Miami
("City") entitlement grants annually under the following programs: CDBG, HOME, HOPWA, and the
ESG.
HUD has not yet allocated funds for the program year 2016-2017, but pursuant to HUD regulations
the previous year's allocation can be used as a projection for planning purposes.
Projected funds to be granted to the City under said programs are: (1) $4,768,648 to the CDBG
Program, (2) $2,531,595 to the HOME Program (3) $12,811,866 to the HOPWA Program, and (4)
$422,030 to the ESG Program.
The Administration recommends accepting HUD Entitlement Grant Funds, in the total projected
amount of $20,534,139 as stated herein, for the following programs: CDBG, HOME, HOPWA, and
ESG for Fiscal Year 2016-2017.
