HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutionCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 15-01358 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION REQUIRING THE CITY MANAGER AND/OR THE PLANNING AND ZONING DEPARTMENT TO CONSULT AND NOTIFY DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS OF PLANNING AND ZONING ITEMS WITHIN THE COMMISSIONER'S SPECIFIC DISTRICT PRIOR TO NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND PLACEMENT OF ITEM ON THE CITY COMMISSION AGENDA. WHEREAS, land use and zoning matters are a key function of the Miami City Commission ("City Commission") in their capacity as representatives of the Miami community; and WHEREAS, planning and zoning items affect greatly the neighborhoods and communities in which the decisions of the City Commission regarding land use and zoning take place; and WHEREAS, it is crucial for commissioners whose districts are subject to planning and zoning items on upcoming City Commission agendas be consulted and notified of the placement of such items; and WHEREAS, consultation and notification be made to the commissioner by the City Manager and/or the Planning and Zoning Department regarding planning and zoning items within the commissioner's district prior to public notice and placement of the item on the Miami City Commission agenda; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Commission requires consultation and notification by the City Manager and/or Planning and Zoning Department regarding planning and zoning items on upcoming City Commission agendas to district commissioner(s) whose districts are subject to such items. Section 3. The subject consultation and notification by the City Manager and/or Planning and Zoning Department to the commissioner(s) shall be prior to both public notice and placement of the item on the City Commission agenda. Section 4.
