The Charter Review and Reform Committee was created to (1) review the Charter of the City of
Miami, and any changes to the Charter suggested by the Mayor or any of the five (5) members of the
City Commission; (2) hold public hearings to receive input; (3) issue a final written report to the City
Commission; and (4) serve in an advisory capacity to the City Commission and recommend, in
writing, any amendments necessary to reform or update said Charter, providing, however, that any
member of the Charter Review Committee may present an alternative recommendation regarding any
specific Charter change proposal.
Eleven (11) appointments are needed at this time:
• Mayor Tomas Regalado has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:
1. Steve Kneapler, incumbent, whose term expires on September 29, 2015.
• Chair Wifredo (Willy) Gort has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Stanley Krieger, incumbent, whose term expires on September 29, 2015.
2. Richard Kuper, incumbent, whose term expires on September 29, 2015.
• Vice Chair Keon Hardemon has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:
1. James McQueen, incumbent, whose term expires on September 29, 2015.
2. Alex Saiz, incumbent, whose term expires on September 29, 2015.
• Commissioner Marc David Sarnoff has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Jay Solowsky, incumbent, whose term expires on September 29, 2015.
2. Melissa Tapanes Llahues, incumbent, whose term expires on September 29, 2015.
• Commissioner Frank Carollo has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:
1. Tucker Gibbs, incumbent, whose term expires on October 9, 2015.
• Commissioner Francis Suarez has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Luis Gazitua, incumbent, whose term expires on September 29, 2015.
2. Mike Llorente, incumbent, whose term expires on September 29, 2015, and will require a
4/5ths waiver of the residency requirement, per Section 2-884(a) of the City Code.
• Commission At Large has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:
1. Francis Suarez, incumbent, whose term expired on September 10, 2015.
For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said committee. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on October 8,
2015, Commission agenda.
