Subject: Amendment to City Code Chapter 2, Division 21 — Administration; Wynwood Business
Improvement District Board
Purpose of Item:
Amend Chapter 2, Division 21 — Wynwood Business Improvement District Board to modify powers
and duties consistent with the Wynwood Neighborhood Revitalization District (NRD-1) and to create
a new advisory committee related to projects/development within the NRD-1.
Background Information:
The Wynwood Business Improvement District (BID) was created in 2013 to improve and strengthen
the area known as the Wynwood Arts District. This amendment clarifies that the BID Board may
make recommendations from time to time to the city administration and city commission regarding
land use and zoning policies and reflects the role of the BID with respect to the Wynwood
Neighborhood Revitalization District (NRD-1). This amendment would also provide for the creation
of an advisory committee for the purpose of recommending to the Director of Planning and Zoning
and whether the design of developments and/or improvements pursuant to the Wynwood NRD-1 are
compatible with the cultural and architectural character of the Wynwood district.
