The purpose of this item is to allow the City Manager to execute documents necessary to the update to
ARTICLE IV, DIVISION 2-CITY OF MIAMI FIREFIGHTERS" AND POLICE OFFICERS"
RETIREMENT TRUST pursuant to required changes under IRS Regulations.
Background Information:
In order for the FIPO Pension to continue to be a qualified plan the recommended changes to Article
IV, Division 2, CITY OF MIAMI, FIREFIGHTERS' AND POLICE OFFICERS' RETIREMENT
TRUST must be adopted by the City Commission. In conjunction with the adopted changes the
Internal Revenue Service has also required the City of Miami execute a Closing Agreement on Final
Determination Covering Specific Matters and Operational Compliance Statement in relation to the
adopted changes as well.
