Re: FY'16 Coconut Grove BID Operating Budget:
Enclosed is the proposed Coconut Grove Business Improvement District operating budget for fiscal year
2015/2016 for your review. The Coconut Grove BID is pleased to announce the continuation of the
successful initiatives that were introduced in FY'15, in addition to the introduction of new projects aimed
at cementing our commitment to serve the local community and visitors alike within our commercial
walking village.
Highlighted below are budgetary items that will fund the development and continuation of several
programs and initiatives:
■ FPL initiative to bury utility concrete poles along public right of ways along McFarlane Road and
Grand Ave
■ $50,000 budgeted for the third expansion of the Coconut Grove BID HD public safety
surveillance system
■ $71,000 has been set aside for off -duty police officer coverage, which consists of coverage 8
hours a day, 5 days a week (over 2,000 + hours annually).
■ $252,000 allocated towards supplemental security and cleaning services for the District, which
amounts to approximately 13,000 of additional hours of service coverage.
■ $40,000 has been set aside for the continuation of the Impact glass installation & shutter removal
matching grant program, which assists property owners with 50% of the costs of removing
hurricane shutters and installing impact glass. (Capital)
■ 4th of July Firework Celebration at Peacock Park - $17,500
■ Monthly Free FAM Music & Art series - $12,500
■ Continuation of Grovite Initiative with Miami Herald to 100,000+ households - $20,000
■ Free Yoga at Peacock Park on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday's - $3,800
■ 25 free walking and bicycle tour series - $4,800
■ Sponsorships for Arts Festival, King Mango, Sail the Grove, Miami International Film Festival,
MsSF
▪ Annual Cocowalk Tree Lighting Series & Turkey Drive
• Grove Way finding & Bicycle Rack Improvements via RFP last performed FY'10 - $30K.
■ Grove Tree Canopy Project for 330 total trees in the public right of way via RFP - $30K
