HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-15-0398City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-15-0398 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 15-01086b Final Action Date: 9/10/2015 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION URGING THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TO DESIGNATE OR CODESIGNATE THE PORTIONS OF THE METRORAIL CORRIDOR CURRENTLY BEING DEVELOPED AS THE UNDERLINE AS A PARKS AND RECREATION SPACE; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE MAYOR OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY AND THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY. WHEREAS, the Metrorail right of way from the Miami River to the City of Miami ("city") limits to the south serves as a linear park for area residents in visitors by allowing the same to bicycle, jog, and otherwise use the shared -use path under the Metrorail for outdoor recreation purposes; and WHEREAS, the Metrorail right of way in that area is owned by Miami -Dade County; and WHEREAS, the City urges Miami -Dade County to official designate said right of way as a linear park; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission urges the Board of County Commissioners of Miami -Dade County to designate or codesignate the portions of the Metrorail Corridor currently being developed as the Underline as a parks and recreation space. Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mayor Gimenez and to the Board of County Commissioners of Miami -Dade County. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
