Purpose of Item: An ordinance ofthe Miami City Commission, amending section 2-779 ofthe code ofthe City of Miami, Florida, as amended, entitled "Outdoor Advertising Signs on City -owned Property", more particularly by amending the following sections: (1) 2-779(b) "definitions"; (2) 2-779(d) process to obtain an outdoor advertising sign permit on City -owned property; (3) 2-779(e) permit fees for the erection of outdoor advertising signs on City -owned property; and (4) 2-779(f) termination/revocation of outdoor advertising sign permit, and containing a severability clause; and providing for an effective date. The purpose of this ordinance is to clarify the schedule for payment of fees, the entities responsible for payment, and penalties for noncompliance with the ordinance. Director City Manager Page 1 of 2 SUPPLEMENTAL PAGE Subject: Ordinance of the Miami City Commission, amending Section 2-779 entitled "Outdoor advertising signs on city -owned property" of the Code of the City of Miami. Background Information: Section 2-779 authorizes outdoor advertising signs to be placed on certain City properties. The purpose of the ordinance is to clarify that the lessee and the outdoor advertising sign operator are jointly and severally liable for all fees and penalties. In addition, the ordinance clears up the payment schedule mid -fiscal year. The ordinance further clarifies the remedies available to the City for non-payment or non-compliance with the ordinance.
