HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-15-0248City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-15-0248 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 15-00617 Final Action Date: 6/11/2015 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "EMS COUNTY GRANT #C3013 AWARD FISCAL YEAR 2014-2015," IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $33,239.00, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BUREAU OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ("EMS") THROUGH THE MIAMI-DADE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR THE PROGRAM ENTITLED "FLORIDA EMS GRANT PROGRAM FOR COUNTIES"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE GRANT LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING/AGREEMENT IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, AND ANY OTHER NECESSARY RELATED GRANT DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Health is authorized by Chapter 401, Part II Florida Statutes, to provide grants to boards of county commissioners for the purpose of improving and expanding pre -hospital emergency medical services. Such county grants are awarded only to boards of county commissioners, but may subsequently be distributed to municipalities and other agencies involved in the provision of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pre -hospital care; and WHEREAS, the Miami -Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. R-964-14 authorizing the County Mayor to receive grant funds from the State of Florida Department of Health Emergency Medical Services Program to improve and expand pre -hospital emergency medical services and to distribute a portion of the funds to the City of Miami ("City"); and WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $33,239.00, for a portion of the EMS County Grant #C3013 for fiscal year 2014-2015; and WHEREAS, the City's Department of Fire -Rescue will use the grant funds to implement its approved work plan consisting of: new EMS equipment, computer hardware, software, materials, supplies and services, training and seminars. Such items will enhance the service capabilities of the EMS System and improve the level of service provided to the residents of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 15-00617 (Version: 11 Printed On: 3/5/2018 File Number: 15-00617 Enactment Number: R-15-0248 Fund Title EMS County Grant #C3013 Award Fiscal Year 2014-2015 Resources State of Florida Department of Health Bureau of EMS Program entitled "Florida EMS Grant Program for Counties" Through the Miami -Dade County $33,239.00 Appropriation $33,239.00 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to accept said grant award and to execute the necessary documents to implement acceptance of said grant. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
