HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3600 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamlgov.com File Number: 15-00514 Final A,etion Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING OF THE POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE PROGRAM, TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM FROM APRIL 15, 2015, THROUGH JUNE 15, 2015 IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,000..00; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, AWARD NO, 1019, PROJECT NUMBER 19-690002, ACCOUNT CODE NO, 12500,191602.883000.0000, WITH SUCH EXPENDITURES HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE. UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE'S "GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING FOR STATE AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES." WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice's "Guide to Equitable Sharing for State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies" ("Guide"), authorizes the expenditure of forfeiture cash or proceeds for certain law enforcement purposes; and WHEREAS, the police department, through the Police Athletic League ("P.A,L"), is committed to the education and development of the youth of our community ("Program"); and WHEREAS, the Program is designed to focus on the prevention of juvenile delinquency and steers youngsters clear of violent and other destructive behaviors through the use of educational and athletic activities; and WHEREAS, a budget was submitted detailing how these funds will be used to cover some expenditures of the Program from April 15, 2015 through June 15, 2015; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of this resolution and has determined that the expenditures proposed comply with the United States Department of Justice's Guide; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the United States Department of Justice's Guide, the recipient, P.A.L. shall: 1) certify that funds appropriated will be used lawfully and for the purpose stated; 2) maintain proper accounting records for the expenditure of such monies; and 3) provide any reports, including but not limited to audit reports, as may be required by the City of Miami or applicable law; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,. FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section, Section 2, The funding of the P.A,L. Program ("Program"), to assist with expenses related to the operation of the Program from April 15, 2015 through June 15, 2015, in an amount not to exceed City of Miami Page 1 of'2 File id: 15-00514 (Version: 1) Printed On: 5/12/2015 File Number.• 15-00514 $10,000.00, is authorized, with funds allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Award No. 1019, Project Number 19-690002, Account Code No. 12500.191602.883000.0000, with such expenditures having been approved by the Chief of Police as complying with United States Department of Justice's "Guide to Equitable Sharing for State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies." Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective Immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor (1} APPRPVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: I 4 VICTORIA IENDEZ CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
