HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislation FR/SRCity of Miami Legislation Ordinance City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, Ft 33133 www.miamigov,com File Number: 15-00356 Final Action Date: AN ORDINANCE OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AMENDING CHAPTER 23/ARTICLE I OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED "HISTORIC PRESERVATION/HISTORIC PRESERVATION" MORE PARTICULARLY BY AMENDING SECTION 23-6.4 ENTITLED "SIGNAGE," TO CLARIFY THE DEFINITION OF GATEWAY SIGN, AND TO EXEMPT GATEWAY SIGNS FROM CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, gateway signs marking the entrance to cultural specialty districts and historic districts serve to identify the area, mark a historic destination for visitors, and reinforce the neighborhood's character as a destination for art, culture, dining, and entertainment; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami desires to permit gateway signs subject to certain requirements; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Chapter 23 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, entitled "Historic Preservation," is amended in the following particulars:{1} "CHAPTER 23 HISTORIC PRESERVATION ARTICLE I . HISTORIC PRESERVATION Sec, 23-6.4 Signage, A. Historic signs B. Gateway signs, i. Definitions, Gateway Sign is a sign marking the entrance to a neighborhood, park, or other designated historic, public or geographical areas that serves to identify the area, mark a historic destination for visitors, and reinforce the neighborhood's character as a destination for art, culture, dining, and entertainment.
