HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-15-0212City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-15-0212 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 15-00508b Final Action Date: 5/14/2015 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ALL STEPS NECESSARY, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, AN AMENDMENT TO THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ("CITY'S") CURRENT INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, TO EXTEND BRICKELL TROLLEY ROUTE FROM MERCY HOSPITAL TO SOUTHWEST 37TH AVENUE, RUNNING SOUTH BAYSHORE DRIVE, TO MARY STREET, TO GRAND AVENUE, TO SOUTHWEST 37TH AVENUE, TO US 1, TO BIRD AVENUE, TO SOUTHWEST 32ND AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDAAND BACK. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") currently operates a multitude of trolleys in the Health District, Overtown, Downtown, Brickell, and Coral Way areas; and WHEREAS, the trolleys are used by tourists and locals alike; and WHEREAS, there is a large community that has been historically underserved by transit in the Brickell to Mercy Hospital area; and WHEREAS, a trolley route in that location would greatly enhance these neighborhoods; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is directed to take all steps necessary, including, but not limited to, an amendment to the City's current Interlocal Agreement with Miami -Dade County, to extend the Brickell trolley route to the City's trolley system, from Mercy Hospital to Southwest 37th Avenue, running South Bayshore Drive, to Mary Street, to Grand Avenue, to Southwest 37th Avenue, to US 1, to Bird Avenue, to Southwest 32nd Avenue, Miami, Florida and back.
