A Cuban born American, Mr. Borges arrived to the United States in 1969 fleeing Communism and tyranny with his family. As a graduate of the University of Florida and the University of Miami School of Architecture, Mr. Borges has significantly contributed to the skylines of Miami and Miami Beach. While a design director with Arquitectonica, he was the design team leader for the American Airlines Miami Heat Arena, with the formation of his own firm, he was design architect of record for the 56 story Infinity at Brickell Tower and Grand Beach hotel to name a few. Mr. Borges is founder and principal of Borges & Associates with headquarters in Miami, Florida serving North and South America and offices in Hagerstown, Maryland, and Abu Dhabi. With over 25 years of design leadership, he has developed a leading world -class, award winning architectural design and consulting firm that over the past 15 years has designed major real estate development projects within the United States and Internationally. Mr. Borges is an active member of the American Institute of Architects and the ULI and serves as the Chairman of the Real Estate Council at the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce where he also serves in the Board of Governors, the Advocacy Council and its Sea Level Rise Subcommittee. He is also the Chairman of the AIA Miami Sea Level Rise Task Force, becoming a leading voice on the topic of Sea Level Rise and how it will affect the built environment and leading the conversation on adaptation and mitigation strategies related to his architectural profession and City Planning. Mr. Borges participated as a design leader in the Resiliency Re -Design Workshop with the Miami AIA and the South East Florida Regional Compact on the topic of Sea Level Rise and Resiliency Design strategies. He is also active with the Dutch Government and other experts in the research and special studies of Sea Level Rise and its impact on coastal communities. Mr. Borges believes in giving back to the community and has been involved with special projects for Amigos Together for Kids and The Children's Home Society. His spirit, design concept, and enthusiasm for the Sacred Grounds project made him the first choice for the Conceptual Architecture Award of the Sacred Grounds project in 2000. With over 25 years of Professional experience, he has won numerous international design competitions awards. His work has been published in national and international architectural publications and ranges from design collaboration of the New American Airlines Arena in Miami, to the Royal Palm Crowne Plaza Resort Hotel in South Miami Beach, to a New Carillon Cayon Ranch Resort in Miami Beach, Florida to numerous other luxury residential projects. Currently he has designed a 597-unit luxury condominium high-rise on Miami's Brickell Avenue, with two 50 story towers as well as its sister project the Phase II tower also known as Infinity Phase II, containing 70 stories and 555 units in a Mixed -Use program. He is a Florida registered architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects and an active member of the Green Building Council. Reinaldo has developed a well-rounded background in the field of architecture, in projects ranging from custom residences and luxury high-rise multi -family residences to resort/urban hotels and complex mixed -use facilities. Moderate to Luxury condominium high-rise design and hospitality projects are his strongest design specialties. Reinaldo uses responsive creative problem solving from concept to final detailed execution of the work, with an enthusiastic team oriented approach. He has successfully collaborated with national design teams in design collaborations numerous times. During the design of the new American Airline Arena where Mr. Borges as the design leader, directed a team of over 20 design professional ranging from Sports Architects to Structural and Mechanical Engineers. Rigourous design oriented and balanced with a strong technical background is the Borges leadership approach to the profession of architecture and engineering systems.
