It is respectfully recommended that the Miami City Commission adopt the attached resolution, by a
four -fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote, ratifying, confirming, and approving the City Manager's written
finding of an emergency, waving competitive sealed bidding procedures as stipulated in Section 18-90
of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, retroactively authorizing the procurement of a
marine unit from American Redi-Bilt, Inc. D/B/A Catamaran Cruisers, for the Department of Fire -
Rescue.
Background Information:
The City of Miami had a need to purchase a marine unit for the Department of Fire -Rescue to address
delays in response, in regards to reflex time from quarters to incidents, allowing fire boat personnel to
provide expedited care and rapid response to citizens along our coast line. The benefit of faster
response times will allow for preventative action towards the increased amount of incidences, such as
the incident that occurred on July 4, 2014. Funds allocated from Account No. 40-B70241-05-1426-
Equipment-181000 in an amount not to exceed $138,161.00.
