Subject to the approval of the City Commission, the Civil Service Board was created to adopt,
amend and enforce a code of rules and regulations which shall have the force and effect of law,
providing for appointment and employment in all positions in the classified service, based on merit,
efficiency, character, and industry; and to make investigations concerning the enforcement and effect
of this article and of the rules adopted; and shall make an annual report to the Commission.
One (1) appointment is required at this time:
• Commission At Large has one (1) nomination for a seat currently:*
1. Vacant. (Note: Lillie Harris qualified as a Candidate in a Municipal Election held on
November 3, 2014*)
*City of Miami Code Section 2-884(d) states that no member of any city board
shall become a candidate for elective political office during his or her term.
Should a member of a city board qualify as a candidate for elective political
office, such qualification shall be deemed a tender of resignation from such
board.
For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of
this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the March 12, 2015,
Commission agenda.
