Subject: Resolution to approve Amendment No. . to the Professional Services Agreement with URS
Corporation Southern ("URS") for the provision of Miscellaneous Environmental Engineering Services
Purpose of Item:
To authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement
with URS Corporation Southern ("URS"), increasing the authorized expenditure limit by a not to
exceed amount of $500,000 for a total contract amount not to exceed $1,000,000, for the provision of
Miscellaneous Environmental Engineering Services. This Resolution further authorizes the City
Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with URS.
Background Information:
On September 7, 2012, pursuant to Request for Qualifications No. 10-11-045, the City executed
an Agreement with URS for the provision of Miscellaneous Environmental Engineering Services, in
an amount not to exceed $500,000. URS has continued to work on an ever increasing list of
environmental remediation assignments resulting from the City's discovery of additional public lands
that tested positive for environmental contaminants. The current remaining contract capacity is not
sufficient to cover the costs necessary to complete the outstanding environmental remediation
assigmnents. It is necessary to enter into Amendment No. 1 with URS thereby increasing the
Agreement by $500,000, from $500,000 to a final not to exceed amount of $1,000,000. Funds are to
be allocated from the appropriate Capital Improvement Projects.
