HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 15-00,081 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONTINUE PAYING RENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500.00 PER MONTH, AND ASSOCIATED CHARGES, UNDER THE LEASE AGREEMENT ("LEASE") BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") AND CENTENNIAL EXPRESS INCORPORATED, THAT IS CURRENTLY IN HOLDOVER STATUS WHILE THE CITY ADMINISTRATION NEGOTIATES A NEW LEASE, AND RATIFYING THE PAYMENT OF $6,000.00 IN BACK RENT PREVIOUSLY APPROVED BY THE CITY MANAGER VIA AN EMERGENCY REQUEST; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE CITY'S POLICE DEPARTMENT BUDGET. WHEREAS, the City of Miami's ("City") Police Department ("Department") currently occupies space located at 1251 Northwest 36 Street, Miami, Florida ("Premises"), from Centennial Express Incorporated, under a month -to -month tenancy; and WHEREAS the City Manager recently approved an emergency payment of $6,000.00 in past due rent payments, and wishes to have the City Commission ratify this payment; and WHEREAS, the City is negotiating with the current landlord in addition to reviewing alternate options for the Department; and WHEREAS, the Department has expressed a need to continue occupying the Premises while a new Lease is being negotiated; and WHEREAS, the City is requesting the use of funds allocated from the Department budget to continue paying the amounts due per the existing Lease, which is currently $1,500.00 per month; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to continue paying rent in the amount of $1,500.00 per month, and associated charges under the Lease between the City and Centennial Express Incorporated, that is currently in holdover status while the City Administration negotiates a new Lease, and to ratify the payment of $6,000.00 in back rent previously approved by the City Manager via an emergency request, with funds to be allocated from the Department budget. Section 3.
