To establish by municipal ordinance an idle speed/no wake boating restricted zone in the waters at
and around Miami municipal marinas and mooring fields. This ordinance will facilitate the City
applying for and obtaining the required state permit approval required for our idle speed/no wake
safety zones from the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission to be in compliance with
Florida Statutes. This item passed on first reading on the January 81h, 2015 City Commission meeting.
Background Information:
Vessels operating in and close to City Marinas at speeds greater than idle create wakes and wave
action that pose a danger to other boaters and their vessels in the immediate vicinity. The proposed
ordinance will establish an idle speed/no wake safety zone in and adjacent to the waters of city
municipal marinas and mooring fields, as required by and in conformity with Florida Statutes.
