Subject: Invitation for Bid (IFB) 472377 Disposal of Bio-Hazardous Medical Waste -Citywide
Purpose of Item:
The nature of this item is to establish a term contract for the Disposal of Bio-Hazardous Medical
Waste, for the City's Fire Department (Fire), on a citywide, as needed basis, with Medigreen Waste
Services, LLC for an initial contractual period of five (5) years with one (1) option to renew for five
(5) additional years, allocating funds from the various sources of funds of the user departments and
agencies, subject to availability of funds and budgetary approval at time of need.
Background Information:
Approval of this contract will enable Fire and other user Departments to collect, dispose and transport
bio-hazardous medical waste legally. The Procurement Department has identified a need to establish a
contract for the Disposal of Bio-Hazardous Medical Waste -Citywide. On November 10, 2014, the
Procurement Department issued Invitation for Bid No. 472377. As required by the Procurement Code,
the IFB was advertised and issued on line. On November 24, 2014, at the bid opening, eight (8)
bidders, responded, and the bids have been tabulated. Medigreen Waste Services, LLC submitted the
lowest responsive and responsible bid per specifications and is therefore recommended for the award.
The estimated amount for the initial term is $88,035.00.
