A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE
RESTRICTION OF VEHICULAR ACCESS TO FREEMAN STREET AT ITS
INTERSECTION WITH TIGERTAILAVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA; SUBJECT TO
APPROVAL OF THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TRAFFIC DIRECTOR; SUBJECT TO
CERTAIN CONDITIONS AS MORE PARTICULARLY SET FORTH HEREIN.
WHEREAS, property owners in the residential neighborhood along Freeman Street, between
Tigertail Avenue and Lincoln Avenue, have expressed concern about the unsafe five -way intersection
at Tigertail Avenue, Southwest 22nd Avenue, and Freeman Street, Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, Section 54-16 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, provides a
procedure for the prohibition of vehicular access to a public street; and
WHEREAS, the residents have requested the City of Miami ("City") to restrict vehicular access to
Freeman Street at its intersection with Tigertail Avenue, Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, Miami -Dade County Public Works/Waste Management Department has expressed no
objection to this request, subject to approval letters from the City's Police and Fire -Rescue
Departments; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the herein restriction of vehicular access is in the best
interest of the public;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. It is hereby directed that vehicular access to Freeman Street be restricted at its
intersection with Tigertail Avenue, Miami, Florida, subject to the approval of the Miami -Dade County
Traffic Director, and subject to the following conditions:
a) Vehicular access shall be restricted by a barricade installed across the entire width of Freeman
Street, at its intersection with Tigertail Avenue, Miami, Florida;
b) The City's Public Works Department shall review the design of the barricade;
c) The design of the barricade shall be subject to review and modification by the Miami -Dade
County Public Works/Waste Management Department; and
d) All of the regulatory traffic signs shall be subject to review and modification by the Miami -Dade
County Public Works/Waste Management Department.
Section 3. Said barricades shall prevent vehicular access, but not restrict pedestrian access.

Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Traffic and
Transportation Section of the Miami -Dade County Public Works/Waste Management Department, and
to the City's Departments of Police, General Services, Solid Waste, and Fire -Rescue.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor. {1}

Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10)
calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it
shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
