Hannon City Clerk Subject: Mayor's International Council References: Agenda for November 20, 2014 Enclosures: List of Members The Mayor's International Council was created to (1) plan and implement the City's International Trade promotion policies for the purposes of stimulating commercial and residential development and expanding the City's tax base through the promotion of foreign trade and local investment in accordance with the bylaws adopted by the Council; (2) serve in an advisory capacity for the City of Miami Sister Cities Program to plan, implement, and oversee the City's international, professional, and technical educational and cultural exchanges, promotion and policies to create and stimulate friendly and meaningful relationships; and (3) coordinate protocol requirements for national and international events and dignitaries pursuant to the standard and practices adopted by the Council. Code Section 2-923(b) states in part: "No Mayor -Appointed member shall serve more than eight consecutive years on the council. Nothing set forth herein shall prohibit any individual from being reappointed after a hiatus of two years." Four (4) appointments are required at this time. • Mayor Tomas Regalado has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by: 1. Julian Linares, incumbent, whose term expires on December 12, 2014, per Code section 2-923(b) cannot be reappointed at this time. 2. Marianne Salazar, whose term expires on December 12, 2014, per Code section 2- 923(b) cannot be reappointed at this time. • Commissioner Frank Carollo has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: 1. Eduardo Padron, incumbent, whose term expired on February 11, 2014, has served as a member since April 22, 2004, and will require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5) vote of the Commission. • Commission At Large has one (1) nomination for a seat currently: 1. Vacant. (Seat previously held by Al Maloof)t This item was continued from February 13, 2014, March 13, 2014, April 10, 2014, May 8, 2014, June 12, 2014, and July 10, 2014, September 11, 2014, and October 9, 2014, Commission meetings. This item was continued from September 11, 2014, and October 9, 2014, Commission meetings. For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership list of the council. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the November 20, 2014, Commission agenda.
