HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 14-01134 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $330,000.00, FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT AND TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM, COMMUNITY CENTER PLAYGROUND PROJECT, LOCATED AT 1320-1330 SOUTHWEST 12TH AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, TO MIAMI-DADE COLLEGE FOR PUBLIC FACILITIES AND IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES, SPECIFICALLY, THE REHABILITATION OF THE TOWER THEATER, LOCATED AT 1508 SOUTHWEST 8TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution Nos. 14-0112 and 14-0056, adopted on February 27, 2014, and Resolution No 13-0139, adopted on April 11, 2013, the City of Miami ("City") Commission approved a total allocation of $1,450,000.00 to the City's Capital Improvement and Transportation Program ("CITP"), for the installation of a new playground at 1320-1330 Southwest 12th Avenue, Miami, Florida; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolutions No.14-0307 and 13-0003, adopted on July 24, 2014 and January 10, 2013 respectively, the City Commission awarded a total of $735,000.00 to Miami -Dade College for the rehabilitation of the Tower Theater; and WHEREAS, CITP has not expended the total allocation for the installation of a new playground at 1320-1330 Southwest 12th Avenue, Miami, Florida; and WHEREAS, the Tower Theater is still in need of additional funding to complete the total rehabilitation of this historic property; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends the transfer of additional Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funds in the amount of $330,000.00 from CITP, for the Community Center Playground project to Miami -Dade College for the Tower Theater project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The transfer of additional CDBG funds, in the amount of $330,000.00 from the City's CITP, Community Center Playground Project, located at 1320-1330 Southwest 12th Avenue, Miami, Florida, to Miami -Dade College for public facilities and improvement activities, specifically the rehabilitation of the Tower Theater, located at 1508 Southwest 8th Street, Miami, Florida, is authorized. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: VICTORIA NMENDEZ CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
