HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 14-01132 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO GRANT CITRUS HEALTH NETWORK, INC., AN EXTENSION OF TIME FOR THE 2013-2014 AGREEMENT FOR EMERGENCY SOLUTIONS GRANT PROGRAM, FROM APRIL 1, 2014, TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2015; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 13-0271, adopted July 11, 2013, the Miami City Commission approved the allocation of Emergency Shelter Grant ("ESG") funds in the total amount of $362,264.00; and WHEREAS, the amount approved by the City of Miami ("City") included $126,792.40 to Citrus Health Network, Inc., for the Rapid Rehousing and Homeless Prevention Program, for the period of April 1, 2013, to March 31, 2014; and WHEREAS, in 2012, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") provided for two (2) years of ESG funding, 2011-2013; and WHEREAS, Citrus Health Network, Inc., has expended their 2012-2013 allocations in 2013-2014, leaving the 2013-2014 funds unpsent; and WHEREAS, an extension of the time for the agreement will allow Citrus Health Network, Inc., to expend 2013-2014 allocations in the 2014-2015 program year, for a program that is very much needed in the community; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends granting Citrus Health Network, Inc., an extension of time until September 30, 2015, to spend the funds for the Rehousing and Homeless Prevention Program, including program administration; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to grant Citrus Health Network, Inc., an extension of time to expend the funds for the 2013-2014 agreement for the Rapid Rehousing and Homeless Prevention Program, from April 1, 2014, to September 30, 2015. Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized{1} to execute all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: VICTORIA MENbEZ CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
