Director Chief City Manage> Page 1 of 2 Background Information: Because of the existing and continuing possibility of the occurrence of law enforcement problems and other natural and man-made conditions which are, or are likely to be, beyond the control of the services, personnel, equipment, or facilities of the City of Miami ("City") Department of Police or the police departments of the following municipalities: Miami -Dade County, Village of Miami Shores, the School Board of Miami -Dade County and the City of Dora! ("Participating Municipalities"). In order to ensure that preparation of these law enforcement agencies will be adequate to address any and all of these conditions, to protect the public peace and safety and to preserve the lives and property of the people of the City and the Participating Municipalities. The City and the Participating Municipalities have the authority under The Mutual Aid Act, Chapter 23, Part 1, of the Florida Statutes, to enter into mutual aid agreements. The City and the Participating Municipalities have the authority under the Florida Interlocal Cooperation Act of 1969, §163.01 Florida Statutes, to enter into interlocal agreements to jointly exercise any power, privilege or authority which they share in common and which each might exercise separately.
