HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov,com File Number: 14-01006 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ACCEPTING REIMBURSEMENT GRANT ("GRANT") FUNDS TO BE RECEIVED FROM THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY ("COUNTY") BUILDING BETTER COMMUNITIES GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,500,000.00, FOR THE ANTONIO MACEO PARK PROJECT, B-40456; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH THE COUNTY FOR THE GRANT FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has received an award for a reimbursement grant from the Miami -Dade County ("County") Building Better Communities General Obligation Bonds ("GOB") Antonio Maceo Park Project, B-40456 ("Project"), in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000.00 ("Grant"); and WHEREAS, the Project's scope of work consists of the design and construction of an approximately 5,500 square foot multi -purpose recreational facility, which includes a computer room, activity room, multi -purpose room, and kitchen and service area, which will sustain the existing afterschool, cultural, and arts programs; and WHEREAS, the City has previously by earlier resolutions authorized and appropriated City sources of funding to begin design and early stages of the Project; and WHEREAS, this Resolution seeks authorization for the City Manager to negotiate and execute, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, the proposed Building Better Communities Interlocal Agreement ("Interlocal Agreement") for the Grant, for said purpose and pursuant to the Florida Interlocal Cooperation Act of 1969, as amended, under F.S. Section 163.01; and WHEREAS, Grant funds in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000.00 are to be appropriated by a separate City Commission resolution; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Funds, in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000.00, consisting of a reimbursement grant from the County's GOB, for the Project, are accepted. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to negotiate and execute an Interlocal Agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with the County for said purpose. Section 5. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
