HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-14-0437City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-14-0437 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 14-00850 Final Action Date: 11/20/2014 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION WAIVING THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT BY A FOUR -FIFTHS AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, AS IT RELATES TO SAMAIYAH ENGRAM AS A MEMBER OF THE COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN. WHEREAS, in accordance with Division 2, Section 2-884 (a), (b) of the City of Miami Code, a board member must either reside in the city, own real property in the city or maintain a business in the city, unless the City Commission waives the restriction by a four -fifths affirmative vote of its membership or an unanimous vote of the quorum; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution R-14-0143, adopted April 10, 2014, the City Commission appointed Samaiyah Engram to the Commission on the Status of Women; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby waives the residency requirements by a four -fifths affirmative vote, as it relates to the membership of Samaiyah Engram as a member of the Commission on the Status of Women.
