HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 14-01008 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ACCEPTING THE CONTRIBUTION OF FUNDS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF OFF-STREET PARKING A/K/A MIAMI PARKING AUTHORITY, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $200,000.00, FOR THE RECONFIGURATION OF THE PEACOCK PARK PARKING LOT, PROJECT NO. B-75883; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A JOINT PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT FOR THE GRANT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") and the Department of Off -Street Parking, a/k/a/ Miami Parking Authority ("MPA") wish to reconfigure the existing parking lot and provide upgrades to the surrounding area at Peacock Park, located at 2820 McFarlane Road, Miami, Florida ("Project"); and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 14-04, attached and incorporated, the Miami Parking Authority Board on August 8, 2014, approved a project plan that includes milling and resurfacing, asphalt, curbs and gutters, new sidewalks, french drains, signage and pavement markings, landscaping and lighting, and expansion of the public parking lot to support Peacock Park; and WHEREAS, the total estimated Project cost is $302,971.02; and WHEREAS, the MPA will support the City's efforts by providing funding in an amount not to exceed $200,000.00; and WHEREAS, the attached Joint Participation Agreement ("JPA") has been negotiated between the City and the MPA, detailing the responsibilities of the parties; and WHEREAS, this resolution accepts the MPA's grant funding, in an amount not to exceed $200,000.00, and authorizes the City Manager to execute the attached JPA for the grant, for said purpose; and WHEREAS, funds are to be appropriated by separate City Commission resolution for the City's Capital Improvement Program No. B-75883; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The contribution of funds from MPA, in an amount not to exceed $200,000.00, for the Project, is accepted. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute a JPA, in substantially the attached form, for said purpose. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: VIC ORIA N ENDEZ CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes : {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
