Our territory is SW 12th Ave to SW 27th Ave, SW 8th St to Coral Way. The Fire Station project has been a prime topic of discussion for our neighborhood since the temporary Fire Station trailer was installed in Shenandoah Park over a decade ago. As the years passed, as administrations changed and residents bought and sold homes, or gained and lost interest in neighborhood concerns, the temporary Fire Station plan slowly became more permanent. It became more official. And it grew. The footprint required to provide for the true needs of the Fire Department more than doubled. This really resonated with our neighbors and many expressed their concerns to the District 4 office. Our group would like to thank Commissioner Suarez and the Fire Department for their hard work to find a new solution. As we understand it, this new plan will provide Fire with the space they need for many years to come and the city was able to spend drastically less in the process. We look forward to this project's completion and welcoming the Fire Department into their new home.
