The Overtown Advisory Board/Overtown Community Oversight Board (OAB/OCOB) was created
via Ordinance 12858 amending Article XI of Chapter 2 of the City Code to encourage and support
housing, job creation, economic and business development, educational opportunities, and historic and
cultural preservation. The Board shall provide written recommendations to the City Commission
regarding activities, developments, and improvements within or substantially impacting the residents of
the Overtown Area.
The Overtown Community Oversight Board shall consist of 11 members (other than youth board
members), five of whom shall be elected and six of whom shall be appointed. In addition, there shall be
two youth members of the Overtown Community Oversight Board, one to be appointed by the
commissioner representing district five and one to be appointed by the Overtown Community
Oversight Board.
Pursuant to Sec 2-1052(c), an election was conducted on August 19, 2014 for five (5) available elected
member seats on the OAB/OCOB. Twelve (12) individuals qualified as candidates for the five
available seats. The following five (5) candidates were declared the winners for five (5) seats:*

Pursuant to Miami Code Section 2-1052(e), the City Commission at large must ratify the elected
individuals to be appointed as members of the OAB/OCOB. For your convenience, we are including
certification and declaration of election results, and a copy of the current membership of said board.
By copy of this memorandum to the Agenda Office, we are requesting that this issue be placed on the
October 23, 2014 Commission agenda.
