The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board was created to exercise supervisory control
over the activities of the director and the staff of the Downtown Development Authority.
Twelve (of the fifteen) members of the DDA shall be appointed by the current board of directors of the
DDA and submitted to the City Commission for confirmation. One member may be appointed by the
Board of County Commissioners of Miami -Dade County and submitted to the City Commission for
confirmation. One member may be appointed by the Cabinet of the State and submitted to the City
Commission for confirmation.
• The Commission At Large is being requested to confirm the appointment of the following
member:
1. Neisen Kasdin, incumbent, whose term expired on August 31, 2014, has served as a
member since October 12, 2006, and will require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5) vote
of the Commission.*
Note: Neisen Kasdin was appointed by former Governor Jeb Bush. On May 27, 2014 the State of
Florida was advised of the nomination of Mr. Kasdin for re -appointment to the DDA Board and the
State has failed to act on the appointment within thirty (30) days of the request. Pursuant to Section 14-
52(b)(6) of the Code of the City of Miami, the board may appoint Mr. Kasdin and submit said
appointment for City Commission confirmation.
For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said authority. By copy
of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on October 9, 2014,
Commission agenda.
