HomeMy WebLinkAboutSubmittal-Gail Feldman-Brickell Homeowners Association ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 16/2014 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MIAMI DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY ("DDA") OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA EXPRESSING STRONG SUPPORT FOR THE MIAMI WORLDCENTER PROJECT IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI; AND FURTHER URGING THE CITY OF MIAAMI AND OTHER REGULATORY AGENCIES TO APPROVE THE PROJECT AND FACILITATE ITS DEVELOPMENT. WHEREAS, Action Items 1.1 and 1.2 of the 2025 Downtown Miami Master Plan call for "Building a Convention/Conference Center" and "Grovdng & Attracting Business Enterprises and Catalytic National Retailers" in Downtown Miami (provided herein as Exhibit A); and WHEREAS, Miami Worldcenter ("the Project"), is a nearly 30-acre master planned development project by Miami Worldcenter Group, LLC, containing an intense mix of retail, residential, hotel, conference center, office and other urban land uses (provided herein as Exhibit B); and WHEREAS, the project lies generally between 1-395 to the north, the FEC rail spur to the south, NE 2"4 Avenue to the east, and NW 1" Avenue to the west; and WHEREAS, this project will completely transform the district in question from a largely disinvested area into a vibrant, pedestrian -oriented urban neighborhood, and is critically important to the economic revitalization and enhancement of Downtown Miami; and WHEREAS, the project will help to realize multiple goals and objectives of the 2025 Downtown Miami Master Plan. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Directors of the Miami Downtown Development Authority of the City of Miami, Florida. Section 1. The recitals are true and correct and are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The DDA Board of Directors expresses its strong support for the Miami Worldcenter project in Downtown Miami. Section 3. The Miami DDA urges the City of Miami and other regulatory agencies to approve the project and facilitate its development. Grow & Attract Business Enterprises and Catalytic National Retailers EDAW EDAW Actively seek and provide destination retailers with urban store formats, such as Barnes & Noble, Target, Crate & Barrel, etc. Attract a supermarket to CBD and/or A&E to serve Downtown residents.
