The Charter Review and Reform Committee was created to (1) review the Charter of the City of
Miami, and any changes to the Charter suggested by the Mayor or any of the five (5) members of the
City Commission; (2) hold public hearings to receive input; (3) issue a final written report to the City
Commission; and (4) serve in an advisory capacity to the City Commission and recommend, in
writing, any amendments necessary to reform or update said Charter, providing, however, that any
member of the Charter Review Committee may present an alternative recommendation regarding any
specific Charter change proposal.
Commissioner Francis Suarez has been designated as Chairperson. Thirteen (13) appointments are
needed at this time:
• Mayor Tomas Regalado has two (2) nominations for seats currently:
1. Vacant.
2. Vacant.
• Chair Wifredo (Willy) Gort has two (2) nominations for seats currently:
1. Vacant.
2. Vacant.
• Vice Chair Keon Hardemon has two (2) nominations for seats currently:
1. Vacant.
2. Vacant.
• Commissioner Marc David Sarnoff has two (2) nominations for seats currently:
1. Vacant.
2. Vacant.
• Commissioner Frank Carollo has two (2) nominations for seats currently:
1. Vacant.
2. Vacant.
• Commissioner Francis Suarez has two (2) nominations for seats currently:
1. Vacant.
2. Vacant.
• City Manager Daniel J. Alfonso has one (1) nomination for a seat currently:
1. Vacant.
For your convenience, we have included a copy of the resolution establishing said committee. By copy
of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on September 29, 2014,
Commission agenda.
