A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
APPROVING THE ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE CIVILIAN INVESTIGATIVE PANEL
IN THE AMOUNT OF $860,400.00, ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, FOR THE
FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING OCTOBER 1, 2014 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30,
2015.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Civilian Investigative Panel ("CIP") was created pursuant to
City Commission Ordinance No. 12188, adopted February 14, 2002 and serves as an independent
citizens' oversight with authority to conduct investigations and make recommendations related to
allegations of police misconduct, review policies of the City's Department of Police and is empowered
to issue subpoenas for police misconduct investigations; and
WHEREAS, Section 11.5-35 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, requires that a
budget pertaining to the management, operations, maintenance and capital expenditures of the CIP be
approved by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the CIP submits the attached budget request, as approved by the CIP on August 19,
2014, in the amount of $860,400.00 to conduct the functions of the CIP for the Fiscal Year
commencing October 1, 2014 and ending September 30, 2015;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are incorporated
as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The annual budget for the CIP in the amount of $860,400.00, attached and
incorporated, for the Fiscal Year commencing October 1, 2014 and ending September 30, 2015, is
approved.
Section 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the
Mayor.{1}

{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
