The City Commission wishes to sunset the Community Technology Advisory Board (CTAB), established in
2005, and further transfer the functions and responsibilities of the CTAB to the Advisory Committee "Elevate
Miami" which was established via Ordinance 13184 on June 24, 2010.
Background Information:
Elevate Miami, established in June 2012, is an Advisory Board charged to assist in preparing City of Miami
citizens to participate and compete in the new digital society and digital economy by assisting them in
becoming more comfortable with and adaptable to new technologies. Elevate Miami consists of four
components: Digital Literacy; ACCESS Miami; the Education Compact; and Community Outreach targeting
the City's youth, low-income families, minorities, seniors, and all residents facing barriers to economic
empowerment. The Elevate Miami Program provides citizens of Miami with: wealth -building tools necessary
for economic self-sufficiency; programs that enhance and support efforts made by the local schools with an
emphasis on improving student achievement, family involvement, and the student's learning environment;
access to technology; computer literacy training; affordable technology packages that include internet access,
hardware, software, financing, and related components; and capacity building for community organizations and
small businesses.
On June 14, 2012, the City Commission recommended that the Community Technology Advisory Board be
sunset and work under Elevate Miami.
